Droopy Eyelids

The eyes are often what others notice about us first. The normal aging process involves weakening of muscle tone around the eyes as well as loss of the youthful elasticity to the skin surrounding the eyes, both of which contribute to droopy, sagging, and baggy eyelids. Others may interpret your eyelid changes as you being tired or depressed, or you may just feel you look that way. Often times, the droopy lids can actually hinder the quality of your life by reducing your peripheral vision.

An outpatient procedure called blepharoplasty, can improve the appearance of your eyelids by removing excess skin and fat in the upper eyelids. There are also special procedures for lower eyelid problems. Talk with Dr. Cunningham to see if you are a good candidate for these procedures, and if you plan on having surgery be sure to tell them if you take aspirin or blood thinners. Insurance companies often require photographs and peripheral vision testing to determine your coverage, and this can be done during your evaluation.
